Sheffield Hockey Club

This weekend sees Abbeydale Sports Club, the home of Sheffield Hockey Club, hosting another England Hockey event.

This weekend its the turn of the Mixed teams to get in on the act.

Saturday 9th June will see 4 semi final games for both the Trophy and Plate competitions:

• 09:30 - Wallingford v Solihull Blossomfield (Plate)
• 11:30 - Norwich City v Barford Tigers (Plate)
• 13:30 - Sheffield Hallam v Phoenix (Trophy)
• 15:30 - West Herts v Olton & West Warks (Trophy)

The Sunday, 10th June, then sees the 3/4 play offs and Finals.  Sunday will be structured as follows:

• 09:30 - Plate 3rd4th Play off
• 11:30 - Plate Final
• 13:30 - Trophy 3rd4th Play off
• 15:30 - Trophy Final

There will be no charge for Spectators, so if you are free come and watch some hockey.

The astute ones will have noticed that us, the hosts, have managed to play their way into the Semi Finals.  We have a tough draw as Phoenix have won the competition 3 times in the last 6 years!  So if you can all come down and make home field advantage pay then the Players, I am sure, will rise to the occasion and give you a game worth watching!

For the record the Sheffield Mixed team have had the following results:

• Stockport Bramahll - walkover
• Didsbury Northern - 12 - 1
• Leicester Thursday - 3 - 1
• Cannock - 6 - 3
• Staines - 5 - 1

Phoenix have managed:

• Spencer - 7 - 5
• Slough - 5 - 0
• Harrow - walkover
• Folkestone Optimist - 7 - 3
• Bristol University - 7 - 1

So looking at that I would expect to see some goals!! Both sides have:

• scored 26 goals
• both had a walkover
• Sheffield (6) edge the goals against over Phoenix (9)

There will be International, National League and Cup Winning players all over the pitch, lets hope we get some good weather and a good crowd!
