Sheffield Hockey Club

The cold weather arrived this week and there were snow flurries in all sorts of places, but the final weekend of Senior league fixtures before Christmas is upon us.

In the Junior section:

• The Under 10 Boys side are off to Leeds University to play their round of 5 fixtures.
• The Under 14 Girls are fielding 2 sides at Granby School Harrogate and they are in the same group so expect an intra club grudge match for bragging rights.

In the Mens section:

• Mens 2 - travel to Chester, who are sitting in the relegation zone, but are a better side than that and the 2s will have to treat them with respect if they want the winning run to continue.
• Mens 3 - Boston Spa at the Dale! Usually a tough opposition and the team will be looking to keep the pressure on Leeds going into the Christmas break.
• Mens 4 - sitting 2nd with a game in hand travel to Lincoln who are towards the bottom of the table, surely they should be hoping for an early 3 point Christmas present.
• Mens 1 and Mens 2 - both have Indoor action this weekend on Sunday, this is at Hillsborough Leisure Centre if you want to go along and watch.

In the Ladies section:

• Ladies 1 - will be looking to avenge the defeat earlier in the season in what was a close game, a victory would push them back up the with a couple of the top sides playing each other as well.
• Ladies 2 - travel to Halifax for a mid table clash.
• Ladies 3 and 4 are both at the wrong end of their tables and 3 points this weekend would bring some early Christmas cheer and set them up for a dash for safety in the 2nd half of the season.
