There were several Junior sides in action on the 30th Oct:

Boys Under 10

Sheffield Hallam U10 Boys Team in the YYHL Division 2 at Weetwood, Leeds

The SHC Boys U10s squad continue to develop well and recorded 2 wins, 2 draws and 1 loss.

With an average age of only 8 the team produced a very good team display and the future looks very good for the boys.

The total number of goals scored was 5 with only 1 scored against Sheffield.

Team player of the day as voted by the boys was Ben Rhodes. 

Girls U14 A

Sheffield Hallam U14 Girls A Team in the YYHL at Brigshaw School

We decided to play the U-13 girls as Sheffield ‘A’. Sheffield started well in their first YYHL league game against Huddersfield ‘A’. After good attacking play created a number of good chances, Lucy Pratt produced a neat finish to open the scoring.

Tash Jones tested the goal keeper with some good shots, the rebound of one found Lucy on hand again to put in from close range. Icing on the cake came from a good midfield move rounded off by Rebecca Fowler.

Huddersfield ‘B’ fell back to defend for large parts of the next game, testing the close skills of our girls. Tash Jones opened the scoring with a shot in the bottom corner. She followed this up soon afterwards with a close finish.

Maddie Pearce gained just rewards for a good all round display by scoring our third after a 1-2 at the top of the ‘D’ and strong shot past the keeper.

Girls Under 14 B

Sheffield Hallam U14 Girls B Team in the YYHL at Thirsk Comp School.

Considering that we fielded five debutants on this first match day the girls made an excellent start. Beth, Annie & Izzie lost the ballot and had to play a game each in goal, and it was the lack of Izzie’s fire-power that contributed to our opening 0-0 draw with Thirsk. She was however called on to make three important saves in the dying minutes to keep Thirsk at bay.

The second game against City of York saw us score seven goals without replay, Katie Harvey scoring two from the left wing and Izzie Carter also helping herself to a brace.

The final game saw Izzie at her rampant best scoring four past a hapless Wakefield team. Her tally would have been greater had she been able to hit the ball consistently. Something for training perhaps?

Thanks to Jo Winder who came gained valuable umpiring experience in readiness for her Level 1 assessment.
