Scottish International signing for Sheffield Hockey Club
06 August 2011

With the departure of last season's number one National League keeper Pete Metcalfe it was always going to be important that the club recruit a 1st class replacement.
The club is pleased to announce that Jamie Cachia has signed for the club for this coming season. Jamie brings with him a wealth of experience as a Senior Scottish International and was part of the successful Durham University National North Championship winning side last year.
More recently, the Scottish International has been selected for the EuroHockey Nations Championships II 2011 in Vinnitsa, Ukraine which starts on Monday 8th August. We wish Jamie the best of luck and will welcome him back in time for our pre-season friendly against Bowdon Hockey Club on Saturday 20 August 2011.
We asked Jamie how he was feeling about joining Sheffield Hockey Club and he said;
"I am really looking forward to joining a new club which has the quality of Sheffield. Having played against them last year it will be nice to play alongside them and hopefully I can make a difference in our efforts to reach the Premier League."
Gareth Tyler, Men's Head Coach added
"We are delighted to have signed Jamie who will be a valuable member of our squad and now means that we have International representation from three of the home nations. His relocation to Leeds and decision to play for Sheffield Hockey Club couldn't have been more timely for us with the loss of Pete Metcalfe who we say a fond farewell to and wish the very best of luck in his move to London."
