SHC M2 4-2 Didsbury Northern

In their latest match, the men's second team faced Didsbury Northern, needing to gain some points to help them kick start their season. The day started wet, miserable and cold, but the team still felt they could do this!

After a good warm up with lots of chat and enthusiasm the game pushed back. Didsbury had a very early chance within the first minute however, Josh Parkinson pulled off a great save to deny them. After the first minute of pressure Sheffield, where on top in the first 10 minutes with some 'barca style of play,' pinging the ball around the pitch.

After a searching ball from Grady Wing to Ed Crawford, a superb cross found Tom Brammer who pulled it to the p spot for Adam Fletcher. The shot was heading wide but Chris Debney was there on the post to put Sheffield 1-0 up. Shortly after didsbury scored from a short corner to make it 1-1!

Sheffield didn't let this affect them, playing some more inspiring play, Connor Jack Jameson played a spectacle of a pass into the D which Brammer got on the end of to make it 2-1 sheffield.

The home side were feeling good, enjoying the game and not letting the weather affect them! Didsbury didn't get many shots in the game but what they did get was dealt with by the Sheffield defence and Josh Parkinson between the posts.

Sheffiekd's third goal came from a shockingly, outrageously good flick from Brammer, straight into the top right corner, leaving the keeper with no chance, 3-1 Sheffield. Admittedly, Sheffield had one slip up leading to a very scrappy goal by the visitors, putting them back in the game at 3-2!

Tensions were high and Sheffield knew they were close to the win, but couldn't stop yet. Suddenly the ball hit Crawford on the hand and Didsbury had a penalty flick. But why worry when you have Josh Parkinson in goal. An acrobatic save saw him dive to the right and palm the ball away to safety, still 3-2!

In the final 15 Sheffield sat back and 'parked the bus' to holdout for a deserved win. The good thing about this is teams can play counter attacking hockey! And it worked with a speedy counter from Sheffield, Brammer running at the keeper slipping it left for Chris Debney to slot in a sitter, 4-2 after some magical forward play! Didsbury did get the chance for a conciliation goal as they had a shorty right that the end however, Sheffield's rock of a diffence held out and they won the game 4-2! Outstanding performance from the boys and a mint 3 points!!! Feels good!
