Defibrillator installed in the entrance to the Clubhouse

Thanks to the British Heart Foundation, Abbeydale Sports Club now has a public access defibrillator installed in the entrance to the Clubhouse.

The BHF funded the defib due to the high numbers of people on site at the Sports Club but it is available to members of the general public also.

As most of you know Roger Lomas had a cardiac arrest at half time in a match just over a year ago and without prompt attention from people around him with CPR and use of a defib he wouldn’t be here. Roger did a short interview on Radio Sheffield last Friday promoting this training and you can listen to it on http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p03kmlp4#playntt - scroll to 1hr 55min in to the programme.

As part of the funding, the Club will be running training sessions on the use of the defib and also in CPR.  The courses are open to all Abbeydale members and also to the public.

The training will be held at Abbeydale Sports Club at various times during 2016 and anyone is welcome to attend the training which is free and available to members and non members.

To book a space on a course, please email cpr@abbeydalepark.co.uk

Please spread the word and help us save lives.
