City of Manchester 3-3 SHC M2

The game started at a quick pace on a sticky pitch and it soon became apparent to Hallam that this was not a pitch to dribble on. COM were playing half court so Hallam had majority of possession which led to a penalty corner about 10 minutes in. Step up Connor Jack Jameson to drag flick. Even though he was aiming about a mile wide, a Manchester played helped the ball into the roof of the net. 1-0 Hallam.

Eager to capitalise on their possession Hallam began over committing in attack, which led to a standard Manchester counter attack.  A sloppy ball in to the circle led to a tame shot being turned into the Hallam net by Toby Sadri. 1-1.

Hallam continued dominating the game but were unable to capitalise on their D-entries and penalty corner opportunities. However, some debateable defending from Hallam across all areas of the pitch led to Manchester entering the D for only the 2nd time in the game to tap the ball into the goal. 2-1 Manchester at half time

In the second half, Sheffield Hallam continued where they had left off but started to press more and create even more opportunities. However, 5 minutes into the half, communication broke down for Hallam and Manchester made their way through the Hallam lines with ease before again, scoring with only their 3rd or 4th shot of the game. 3-1 Manchester.

The game then became very scrappy with Manchester happy to sit back and wait upon Hallam mistakes.

Chances again came and went for Hallam with no goals. Eventually, with 7 minutes left on the clock, a penalty corner was won which was neatly tucked into the Manchester goal by none other than that man Connor Jameson again. 3-2 Manchester.

Still happy to sit back and try to scrape a home win, Manchester continued with half court pressing and put 11 men behind the ball. However, Sheffield persistence paid off as they won a corner in the dying moments of the game. Jubilation followed as the ball was flicked past the keeper and into the net by Tom Brammer. 3-3. Full Time.

A very scrappy game that saw Hallam Keeper Josh Parkinson not even touch the ball in the game. Great determination by Hallam to get a result fighting right to the final whistle. A very different game can be expected in the return leg.
