GS: Matt Anderson 1-F Akshay Ahitan 1-F
CARDS: YELLOW: Akshay Ahitan, Tom Brammar
We started on the front foot and won a few short corners unfortunately to no prevail. Ben Rhydding were fairly quiet and our confidence was growing! This lead to a lovely bit of skill from MOTM Matthew Anderson who skinned 4 players and slotted it through the keepers legs. Oooosshh 1-0 up.
A few short corners for Ben Rhydding were defended well and a swift counter attack led to Ashfat Abdulwahid playing the ball to Akshay Ahitan who placed it in the empty net. 2-0 Sheff.
The game was quite calm and we limited them to very few chances. However it was starting to become apparent the umpires were being assessed. Ben Rhydding received a yellow for 3 blatant shoves on Mobbs. The umpire from last week decided to even things up and gave me a yellow for what can only be described as a gentle brush of the player.
Ben Rhydding grabbed one back just before half time after a deflection looped past the hand of Josh Parkinson bit of a shame as he did have a good half until that point.
The half time whistle came and we were in a surprising position 2-1 up in a game that was very even, both teams could of perhaps had more goals if it wasn't for the keepers.
The second half started tamely, ben Rhydding enjoying most of the play but we held out well to stay in the lead.
A good deflected goal and the game was level going into the last 20.
Aki got shown yellow for a clean tackle in the middle of the park much to Tom Brammer frustration who made it clear to the umpire he was listening to the crowd. Yellow followed for him. We held out whilst we were down to 9. Unfortunately Musgrave beat Josh from a short corner. Ben Rhydding then got shown 2 yellows and we finished strong. Jack Simkins skinning a few before being chopped in the D, no short followed. Shock.
Full time was blown with the snow falling horizontally again. A good performance with plenty positives for Wakefield at home next week.
MOTM- Matty (well deserved)
