GS: Hannah Shorter 1-F Nicola Cox 2-PC,PC Sally Rawlings 1-F Lucy Woodward 1-F Sophie Spedding 2-F,PC
After a long and tedious journey to the seaside town of Bridlington Sheffield started on the attack straight from the off, getting a short corner in first 5 minutes with Nicola Cox flinging the ball straight into the back of the net.
Play restarted with Brid coming out pretty quick but Sheffield were straight away all over them with great organisation and structure which seemed to be the story throughout the entire game.
The second goal was another well worked penalty corner with Sophie Spedding finding the ball on the post and knocking it in! The third goal was a perfect example of a reverse strike made by Coxy but was deemed "dangerous" by the umpire and disallowed.
The fourth goal was again a penalty corner and again another reverse hit in by Coxy.
First half ended SHC 3 - BHC 0
The second half started with Bridlington looking more threatening but with Sophie "cool as a cucumber" Ward, Megan Crehan, Erica Harrison and Georgie "no goals" Bartlett at the back Steph Mather had no worries and complete confidence in her defense, only having a couple of kicks the entire game.
Soon enough Sheffield were back in their rhythm with the Midfield dominating the pitch. Hannah Shorter showed great strength and skill when she battled one on one with opposition twice her age!
The fifth goal was a brilliant straight strike from Lucy Woodward during a short corner but again the umpire disallowed it for a "dangerous" shot even though it hit the back board.
Seconds later a great ball across from the Midfield gave Lucy the perfect opportunity to smash the ball straight past the keeper for an allowed sixth goal! The Sheffield side were relentless on the attack!
The 7th goal came from the driving run of Speds again with a great slap to finish off.
Great work from Katie "postman pat" Harvey on the post having numerous battles with the keeper but was very unlucky to not get a goal.
Zoe Jefferies also worked hard by making some great runs up and down the pitch.
The 8th goal came from a great dribble through into the D, a cheeky twist and a massive push from Hannah Shorter straight into the back of the net!
The last goal of the match was an unexpected but fantastic reverse hit from Sally Rawlings going past the keeper and banging the board!
You better believe it Phil Butler!!
Overall a fantastic game from everyone but someone had to be DOD! That fell on the ever dickish Georgie Bartlett for not scoring a goal after several attempts
MOM went to the ever cool Sophie Ward for excellent picks, tackles and some great work up the pitch! A well deserved trip to the beach was in order!
