Match Report

GS: Matt White 3-F.F.F Nigel Ward 1-F Phil LUmb 1-F Paul Hardy 1-F

After an encouraging away win at Doncaster, last week, the 8ths hoped to build on that result with a win against a Driffield side several places above them in the league.
This was the first time that Sheffield had played at home for six weeks and the lads played some decent stuff on the Olympic pitch early doors, but it was the away team who scored first.
Unphased, Sheffield continued to play good hockey. Matt White showed his pace and quality on the wing and soon scored the equaliser.
Midfielders Lumb, Robinson, Hardy and Ward were moving the ball about really well and it was no surprise when the reds scored through Lumb and then through the energetic Nigel Ward.
So 3-1 at half time and looking good, but better was to come in the second half.
Matt White scored two more goals to complete his hat trick, and Paul Hardy showed a deft touch to score the final goal.
A great 6-1 win against a good Driffield side who were friendly, and gracious in defeat.
Excellent performances from the whole team. League leaders Hull, away, next week.
Could be interesting!
