Internal Player Pathways

Participation

Youth members will progress through the ranks of the JDC program from one age group to the next. They will participate in inter-club blitz competitions to gain competitive opportunities. At 15 yrs old junior players can be invited to play within the Men's 4-8ths & Ladies 3-5ths.

Development

Players who are identified as development athletes will play in the YYHL games. This can't be guaranteed from year to year however competitive opportunities will be made available through the participation pathway at all age groups.

Developing talent will be sent to JAC in the hope that they progress to the performance status at national and club level.

Once our development athletes reach 15yrs old they may be asked to play in our Men's 6's ad 7th XI or Ladies 4th XI

U16 Junior players can remain playing in the YYHL whilst representing the club in the senior sides. Please note attendance to senior training is by invite only.

Graduation

Is mandatory at age 16+ at which point players are placed into the senior system at a level decided by the HDO in conjunction with the Senior and junior head coaches.

Every effort is made to ensure that our young members graduate from junior hockey into the appropriate competition level. Although some members may graduate to senior hockey at an earlier age compared to others please recognise that not all players develop at the same rate. Sheffield HC internal player pathway has been developed by our CCC's and is designed to ensure the maximum development of all of our youth talent.

Performance

Young talent that reaches the JRPC and National Cup competitions are classed by the club as performance athletes and may be placed in M1-3rds and Ladies 1's & 2's.
